Kava

I first heard about Kava, also known as Kava Kava, the other day from my friend who works at a chain coffee house on campus. He said that it produces similar effects as that of marijuana. Boom I was in. I knew it wouldn't get me blazed and instead expected a calm, relaxed feeling more. So he packed a teabag with a double dose and poured in boiling water. I sat and as I waited for it to cool I did some quick research on the most trusted of sites, Wikipedia.

Supposedly, people of the Pacific Ocean cultures drink this earthy, peppery beverage like its Bud Light. It is consumed at social gatherings to make people friendly and share deep dark secrets. The strongest source of getting the active ingredient, Kavalactone, into your system is chewing on the fresh root of the plant. It's also sold as a powder that is mixed with hot water. Which, thanks to the magic of tech, can be bought over the internet.

As I sipped my extremely hot Kava I reached the section about preparation. To my dismay the Kavalactones are destroyed at 180 degrees F and after a google search, found that water boils at 212F. Maybe Ill order some and see if its a bud replacement or an alcohol alternative.
